Survey results show rise of new social technologies to address limitations of traditional performance reviews
CHICAGO, Ill, SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., and DUBLIN, Ireland – June 18, 2013 – GloboforceOpens in a new tab® (www.workhuman.comOpens in a new tab), a leading provider of social recognitionOpens in a new tab solutions, today announced the release of “The Crowdsourced Performance Report.” The new product feature makes it even easier for HR leaders and managers to actively use crowdsourced recognition awards as part of employee performance evaluations and conversations. These capabilities mark the industry’s first and only tangible report of recognition that managers can use for performance reviews. The need for these enhancements was validated in the Spring 2013 SHRM/Globoforce Employee Recognition SurveyOpens in a new tab, as 78 percent of HR leaders said crowdsourced recognition would be helpful data to incorporate into employee performance reviews. The new functionality enables managers to access a “Crowdsourced Performance Report” for every employee on the manager’s team. The report provides visibility into each employee’s recognition history, including details on the business and peer impact of the employee’s achievements. This compilation helps managers easily integrate crowdsourced feedback and recognition into performance management conversations and reviews with team members. “It’s time to apply today’s social technologies and business thinking to performance reviews, an age-old process in dire need to be revived,” said Eric Mosley, CEO of Globoforce. “With these new features, crowdsourced recognition can now be part of the ‘conversation.’ Employees can see and hear the positivity of their year-round performance in one place and use it to drive stronger, more inspired work.” The product enhancements follow the release of Eric Mosley’s new book, The Crowdsourced Performance Review (McGraw-Hill Professional, Hardcover and eBook formats: $30, 272 pages). The book examines how crowdsourcing feedback can fix the employee performance review. Unlike many business books that suggest eliminating the performance review entirely, this book re-imagines the performance review system and proposes a new model, adding practices that keep pace with extraordinary changes in business thinking, social technologies, and company culture. The Crowdsourced Performance Review is now available (in Hardcover and eBook formats) at all major retailers, including AmazonOpens in a new tab, Barnes & NobleOpens in a new tab, and Apple’s iBookstoreOpens in a new tab. SHRM 2013 Eric Mosley will be speaking about this topic at the SHRM 2013 Annual Conference and Exposition at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. His session, “The Crowdsourced Performance Review: The New Social Era in HR?” will be held on Wednesday, June 19th from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. CT in Room N228* in the North Building. This will be followed by a book signing at the SHRMStore. *location is subject to changeAbout Globoforce Globoforce is the world’s leading provider of social recognition solutions, redefining how companies understand, manage, and motivate their employees.
